ORANGE, Va. (AP) - A Virginia man has been charged with reckless operation of an aircraft after he clipped a skydiver's parachute.
The June 13 incident in Orange County caused the chute to fail about 20 feet above a field where the skydiver was to land. The injured skydiver has since been released from the hospital.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler said the misdemeanor charge was filed against the 54-year-old Arlington pilot. He could not be reached on Saturday.
Tyler said the pilot flew low over the landing area and clipped the rigging of the skydiver.
The Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating.
